Constructive Critisism By: Phoenix[ak]

Post by L0AD3D[ak] on Wed Dec 17, 2008 2:31 am

Phoenix[ak]" date="Dec 16 2008, 11:30 PM wrote:Something about us!

I'm returning from my unwilling hibernation with a few new observations about the clan.

Our history says:
"Clan AngelKillers was founded in Feb.08 by Ninja[ak] & Angelkiller. (former commanders of clan assassins creed.) About 40 members of AC followed to AK. Since then the clan has seen constant growth and success."

Nice, but not completely true. Btw, in the last couple weeks, the clan has lost a few members, which is as clear as glass.
I did some research and this is what I found.

This is a list of all members who were in the clan before ninja recruited me, which was the biggest mistake in the clan's history. 13.Sep.2008.
This is the complete list, which took me a long time to write. You can find more at

http://clanakx.com/memSince.php

List removed for bulk - Can be found in news section - Loaded[ak]

All: 979 - 165
814 members were lost.
Where did they go? It goes without saying that most of the members who joined on 10.Feb.2008 are gone.

Stalin said - facts are stonehead.
And these are pure facts, pure statistics.
Can anyone say why all those people left? Maybe, I don't know.
When I first saw this, I was surprised. It's unpleasant.

Recruitment/Recruits.
After my post - no offense my friends - high command stopped further recruiting.
Reason: Let's try to be nice to our recruits and show them how good we are.
Result: More recruits left. If I remember correctly, when high command closed recruiting, we had 205 members. Now we have 165. Maybe someone was too nice and scared them away.
Psychology: When anyone moves to a new city, state, anywhere, they are insecure. 90% of humans act that way. They need communication with others who live there to feel welcome.
But no. Not here.
The only thing our recruits get is, "if you have a problem, let us know." For God's sake, these things don't happen.

This is what I saw on our site, along with one of my recruits (he left after this):

2 Members talking, one from E] and one from ABC]
ABC]: you are gay
E]: you mom don't say that last night

I have enough examples for a book, and not a tiny book. A large one.
Of course he left, he was scared.
Btw, no need to say who the two members are. Shame on them.

Now we have new recruiting rules.
7 days recruiting, then 7 days for love. OH MY GOD. These are only comments.
I have a proposal, amendment, whatever:

Close recruiting until 01.Jan.2009. All of it.
Whoever stays, cares about the clan; whoever leaves, good luck. Simple, and effective.

Rule 13.
Example: Shine was given a rule 13 for disrespect.
Another member, on the site, said: "liver is fat faggot," and... nothing happened. Actually, this is funny.
What's the difference? Shine's a small fish and easy to punish.
The other member's a big fish. A General. He can say whatever he wants.
DOUBLE-STANDARD POLITICS.

This rule is made to protect high command and others who enjoy pleasant conversations with high command. They are protected like bears. Of course, we must ALL show respect for high command. But if someone used rule 13 only because someone told them, you are noob or something else........
Rules MUST be OBEYED, but by all.

Promotions.
First: I'm quite happy with my rank, and I don't write all this for a promotion. I don't need a promotion, I don't care about my status. Just don't make me a DSL Clown, lol. This is also for the people.

BUT.
An Ex-AK member returns to the clan. He spends a few days as a DSL Clown and then starts moving up through the ranks like a meteor. If anyone comes back, they must go step-by-step. This is necessary to show their loyalty. I'm not thinking about Darknight, we have others who move too fast. They skip 2-3 ranks every Saturday. Up, of course.

Officers. I think ninjakiller posted it, that to be promoted to Officer, one must have a minimum of 40 days in the clan and 10 recruits. Only me and Blueman have that.
How many of our generals have recruits. And some warrant officers, with a large number of recruits, still don't have a chance to be promoted. Reason: a new rule posted before they became officers.

So simple.

And I think it is necessary to say, some get promoted to Officers or Generals because they play fastest.
x1 is the only leader who prefers all map types. One and only.
We saw this last week, there was a fastest tournament for promotions. Yeah, we had a low-money tournament, also for promotions. Now, how many fastest and how many low-money players were promoted?

Tournaments.
I suggest we host as many tournaments as possible, but for some strange reason this clan prefers fastest and only fastest. Why? Is there some discrimination against members who play low and UMS?
Maybe they are not worthy, or our fastest players are afraid of being defeated in other maps. I forget, sorry. We had one low-money tournament with Clan AOH I think. We should challenge Clan PAIN. I'm going to do so, with permission from High Command. Btw, I'm a high-ranked low-money player. I think, but you can see that. Whoever wants to.

Ban/kick.
Kick-on-yell is a good thing, no need to change that. It's ok. Of course, they come back after the kick and are ok.
I saw racism in the clan channel, messages like, "white rule," "kkk," but there is no reaction. And most ironicly, I saw our commanders at the same time, but they don't say anything except, "ok, enough." What enough? Ban them from the clan and post them in the hall of shame. Forever.

Shakespeare said in Hamelt, something was rotten in the land of Denmark.
And maybe something is also rotten in Clan AK.

I take full responsibility for this. This is my work. The choice is high command's. Keep my in Clan AK and pay for my presents or ban me from Clan AK and breathe free. Until your decision is made, I will still act as leader of the opposition in Clan AK.

With respect, Fahrudin.

Wow.....A deep read. I only have one question. With all respect, why be in AK if its such a mess in your eyes? Everyone knows of the issues being sorted out, and as I see it, AK is far more advanced, structured, and active then any other clan. I do agree with the things you say, but, Nothing is ever perfect. Ever!.

This post points out all the bad things and issues, and makes it seem like things are down. But in reality, the reason our numbers dropped, is because we finally cleaned out the members page of anyone who wen inactive for a rediculous long time. I am glad that people like you have suggestions and ideas, because it helps, but, to say some of those things, just makes it like you dont want to be here. We have some members that do not realize what they say can be offensive to others, but, almsot 90% of the time it is either in good fun, or just humor. We have some competitive gamers and they can get carried away at times.

As far as the low money and UMS goes, I always look at it this way. You cannot blaim the clan or the fastest gamers for the lack of LM/UMS. Fastest gamers do not usually recruit LM/UMS therefore, the numbers are low on that side. For it to grow, the LM/UMS members need to recruit/participate. This clan for the most part was fastest when it started. You can also ask most of the D2 players, such as spunk, neebu, werter, etc. D2 is a new thing in the clan. well, not new, but it has recently blew up. They didnt blaim the fastest players for their numbers being low, they stepped up, and recruited strong. Spunk himself has told me, "I want 2-D2 player for ever Sc player." (i think he said 2)Himself and others are doing a damn good job. We are now running Baals daily, and have 2 channels dsignated for D2. This is all possible for anything, if the right people step up and take on responsiblity in starting it.

About promotions. I agree. Some members are overlooked when it comes to promotion day. Other then enlisted which is all automatic, I think there should be a place in forums or on site for members who think they have put in hard work and dedication to request promotion. I have been in 1 promotions meeting, and it is hectic. We have like 6-9 people with lists of people they want to put up for promotion. Usually containing people they have personally seen stand out. Its hard to keep track of everyone. I used to run a clan(Clan oWn) and I can say from 7 months of leadership in the clan, It is not easy when you have 80+ members. This clan has alot of active members, and to bring up everyname at promotions is difficult. Like i have siad above, things are never perfect. x1 has done a damn good job making scripts that help with organization and stuff. But, we can only get better.
So, I hope everyone can read and realize, that they have to stick around for a little bit to realize that the clan is not going down. Its really booming. We just need more participation from the right members to set things off. Keep posting ideas.

This goes to anyone. Im going to post this News letter in the forums to make it easier to reply and read. If anyone has ideas, trust me, the clan and high command does take constructive critisism. So give it.

Sorry for it being small. I didn't want it to take up a huge amount of space.

- Edit: Does the black make it easier to read?

I support Sir Phoenix on this topic big time. Phoenix and I had a talk and I see where he is going with this. Also, what he says about recruitment is in my opinion a good idea. Close it until January 1, 2009 see who stays and who doesn't.

pheonix i agree/disaggree w/ what u said.........u implied that some generals dont deserve to be generals cause they dont really have recruits (me). well no offense my recruits left, no imediatly but a long time afta they been in clan so now all i have is lordofwar and all the generals we have are all experiecent, i personally been in clan for 200+ days so even if i dont have recruits i think i deserve general position.....

Few things id like to point out. If someone is being overlooked on promotions it is because they have not been noticed. In my eyes if you want something you stand up and take it. I joined this clan to game with people and ended up helping spunk run the d2 side and innovating ways to make our clan stand out in diablo 2 and in doing so have been rewarded.

The problem with most enlisted are that there afraid to speak up to HC and they shouldnt be, we welcome everyones ideas hell I love hearing new ideas cause then I dont gotta think as much =D.

As far as Low/ums goes maybe you should get the few people together that DO play those maps and teach people how to play them. The hardest thing to do in a game is change your playstyle and if someone is used to playing fastest then yes there more than likely gonna suck at another map type. So ask people if they would like to learn something new, you may be surprised at the feedback you will get.

Far as recuiting goes, people will leave, it happens in any game (ive lead guilds on mmorpg's like everquest everquest 2 and wow for 9 years) so I know better than probably anyone in this clan how much Hell it is to keep good people in the clan. Recruitment should stay open imo, and everyone needs to play a role in maintaining a great gaming clan experience to keep our recruits interested in the clan. You see a random ak member you have never seen befor then ask him/her to game with you, make a new friend.

Sorry that was a little long but alot to be said and no ones saying it so I did.
Thanks
Neebu
